Southern sides leading the way in scoring

763,000 fans have attended the 28 matches played up to and including the 25th of September, and they have seen 168 tries scored.

If it’s tries you want to see then Pool A is the place to go, with 52 tries having been scored. New Zealand have scored the most tries (24) overall, followed by South Africa (20) in Pool D. These two teams are also the best attacking sides having scored 161 and 153 points respectively.

Free Rental Cars & Campervans During the Rugby World Cup

As the Rugby World cup kicks in, more questions are being raised about whether there will be any relocation vehicles, or any rental vehicles available at all for that matter, and if so from where. To be honest, I really do wish I had a crystal ball (as do many other businesses I’m sure) but I don’t (otherwise I would be filthy rich and not sitting at my desk right now :)).

With an estimated 80,000 visitors said to be arriving into New Zealand for the World Cup Tournament, we can only imagine that many of them will be renting cars and campervans across the country. We don’t know however, where or when they will be arriving and leaving as many will likely use this time to travel the country.

In an event like this, you might need roadside assistance, that is why the extraordinary car towing dublin services will be a great ally in these type of situations.

What I can do, is tentatively make some guesses as to where vehicles may be headed and where they may also get stranded.

New Zealand number 2 on CNN’s list of top destinations in 2011

It’s not that surprising that New Zealand made it to number 2 on the CNN list of places to be in 2011.

Apparently the team at CNN had a chat with three travel experts (Robert Reid, U.S. travel editor for Lonely Planet; Pauline Frommer, creator of Pauline Frommer’s guidebooks; and Martin Rapp, senior vice president of leisure sales at Altour) who, between them have decided that New Zealand is one of the top places to be in 2011 (second only to the big apple).

This may well be due to the 2011 Rugby World Cup which they say will add excitement to an already popular destination, however kiwified travellers and locals already know that it’s the place to be because it’s just plain gorgeous.

The crew at Transfercar however, look forward to a great new year with all the hundreds more cars and campervans we hope the 2011 Rugby World Cup will bring to the industry.

Rugby World Cup Car Rental Fever

New Zealand Rental car companies have joined the multitude of Rugby World Cup hopefuls as the hype and anticipation of this global sporting event continues to rise.

With the RWC looming ever closer (9 September – 23 October 2011), rental car companies are pushing for customers to book cars and campervans early, touting the issue of lack of car availability due to the estimated 85,000 international visitors expected to arrive in New Zealand specifically for the event.

This is a good sign for Transfercar as many visitors are expected to travel around the country during this time with a number leaving their cars at major airport locations. These cars and campervans will need to be relocated back to their place of origin and we will be there ready to fulfill this need…..

Rugby World Cup 2011

I was fortunate to attend Thrive 2008 at Aotea square on Thursday and was quite fascinated with what Martin Snedden (CEO Rugby New Zealand 2011 Ltd.) had to say.

With the obvious concerns regarding whether New Zealand had the infrastructure to deal with and event of this scale he seems to have the right attitude – pointing out that this is our chance to show the world what a ‘small country like New Zealand’ can do!

The was a very concerned message that the recent media portrayal of the average New Zealander is ‘something we should try not to be’ …. was not sure exactly what in particular he was referring to, but I liked his pun when he said “New Zealand is mad about Rugby, look back at the last few months and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about”.

I reckon Transfercar is just what New Zealand needs to cope with all that travel over the World Cup – I mean, driving around relocation cars for free between matches…this could be New Zealand’s new ‘tourist attraction’!!….’Transfercar, makes up for God giving us crazy aas petrol prices!’ =P

ps – bad news: expect ‘international ticket prices’ with the humongous costs involved in the bid for hosting rights!
