How to request your free standby relocation car or campervan with Transfercar

For all our new or prospective relocation drivers, here’s a little bit of info on how to request a standby car or campervan on transfercar .co.nz and transfercar.com.au.

Step 1: Register as a driver.

  • Remember to sign up for email alerts for specific routes you are looking for or just to hear what new vehicles are being listed daily.

Step 2: Log in to transfercar.com.au or transfercar.co.nz and look for the relocation car or campervan that suits your destination.

  • Be aware that the dates specified are the earliest and latest pick up and drop off dates  and you are given a certain amount of days between these dates to drive the vehicles.

Step 3: Request a vehicle by clicking on the ‘drive it free” link next to the standby listing and enter in the details requested.

  • You are asked to enter in your credit card details. These details are for our security only and do not go to the owners.
  • An email is then sent to the owner with your request. They will respond by email within 48 hours giving you their contact details.

That’s it! Easy!

Remember to check your spam box if you do not hear back within around 24 hours as our messages may have gotten caught up there.

Happy free travelling!!!

  3. Hi Jackie

The way it works is that rental car companies list their relocation vehicles on our site directly so we never know what is coming up. If you see one that you would like to drive, register as a driver and then log in with your username and password to confirm who you are. You then click the “drive it free” button, tell us when you would like to pick it up, and enter in your credit card details (your card details will not be passed on to the owner). A request is then sent to the rental vehicle company that listed the vehicle, and you receive a response, usually within 24 hours. If accepted, you arrange the time to pick up the vehicle directly with the company.

Sometimes insurance, petrol and other expenses are included and this will be stated in the listing details. If insurance is included, you will still be liable for the excess and will be required to give your credit card details to the owner in case you have an accident or for a bond.

Note: You can request as many vehicles as you like as long as you use the same dates as once you are accepted for a relocation all the other requests will automatically drop off.

If you need any more help please watch our video our home page on how to request a vehicle as this will give you all the information you need.

    Good luck!
