Fuel consumption of relocation cars and campervans

Often we are asked about the fuel consumption of many of our relocation cars and campervans listed on Transfercar.

So I did a little bit of research and put together a quick guide on the average fuel use of commonly listed vehicles. This is not exact data but is an estimate only and will vary depending on the make and model of the vehicle and how you drive it (I’ll write about this soon!).

On average a 2 – 6 berth campervan will use around 1 litre of gas for every 8 – 10 kms driven.

Hatchbacks:

These vehicles use approximately 7.5 litres per 100km.

Such as the Toyota Corolla will also use around 7.5 litres per 100km but may also use up to 8.1 litres per 100k .

Use around 8.0 litres per 100km.

Premium Full Size vehicles:

Such as the Toyota Camry 2400cc will use around 9.8 litres per 100km.

  1. Last year, I also used Nissan Sunny and Toyota Camry.
Nissan Sunny had good fuel consumption like 14Km/1L that is about 7L per 100 Km
and Toyota Camry had bad one compared to Nissan Sunny like 10Km/ 1L that is about 10L per 100Km
Your research is very reasonable and I cheer your efforts.

  2. Thanks! It’s interesting knowing these kinds of things as even on a day to day basis, its good to know how much we spend on gas. I have done a check on a Honda Civic hatchback and manage to do about 140kms on 10L (I think I have done the right calculation as I drive about 140-150kms on 20,00 gas @ approx 1.90c per L).

Anyway, thanks for your response and if you ever get to drive any other vehicles and can be bothered, let us know your fuel rating.

  3. Hi I have only just signed up to transfer vehicles and am thinking of signing on to transfer a Motorhome . My concern is the cost of the fuel for such a large vehicle. Do you have a guide as to how many litres they use per 100 Km.

  4. Hi Jane

Yes we agree you need to take this into consideration. I have found a website that states the following (but are for really big motorhomes and RVs):

    RV Rental (http://www.westcanadatours.com/motorhome/faq.shtml) says: The average fuel consumption varies with the RV Type, individual speed and the way you drive the vehicle. The following information is to be used as guidance only.Truck Camper & Van Conversions = 10-16 Miles/Gallon: 15-20 Liter/100 Km19 ft Motorhomes = 9-14 Miles/Gallon: 17-24 Liter/100 km22 ft Motorhomes = 8-11 Miles/Gallon: 18-28 Liter/100 km25 ft Motorhomes = 7-10 Miles/Gallon: 23-33 Liter/100 km29 ft Motorhomes = 7-10 Miles/Gallon: 23-33 Liter/100 km32 ft Motorhomes = 8-10 Miles/Gallon: 25-35 Liter/100 km

    Hope this helps 🙂
